On June 15th, the Philippine Embassy in Prague celebrated the 126th Philippine Independence Day at the Grand Majestic Plaza Hotel. The said event was headed by Ambassador Eduardo Meñez, the Consul General of the Philippine Embassy, Indhira Bañares, and the Philippine Embassy’s Officers with the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
The Filipino Community in Prague and all over the Czech Republic was invited to the enjoyable and encouraging celebration of the Philippine Independence Day. More or less, one hundred Filipinos joined the celebration on this day, united to pick up a well-informed lesson to learn an enthusiastic strategy. A plan to be enhanced is to change the mindset of a negative opinion and reasoning of why most Filipinos who took the route go abroad only for financial reasons. Well, most OFWs go abroad because of the opportunity for a better living for the family.
The Head of the Commission, Ambassador Eduardo Meñes, stretched on his message to the Filipinos in the Czech Republic to endure its love, not to forget its motherland, and to continue speaking its mother tongue for the Philippines despite holding Czech citizenship or holding permanent residence in Czechia. The ambassador also prolonged his message not to forget the Philippines and to continue to visit or to come home as much as possible, as well as to educate its second-generation children to learn about the Philippines and to teach children to speak the Filipino language.
The ambassador advised the Filipino community to stop giving negative comments about its country and instead to input somewhat optimistic feedback to motivate the country’s progress. In the end, the ambassador highlighted how grateful he is and the Philippine government to all the OFWs all over the globe because the OFWs contributed an indispensable role to the Philippine economy by sending monthly remittances to their loved ones or their family members in the Philippines. Because of this, the Philippines’ economy is growing, which is a vast help to the country. The ambassador also mentioned that the GDP, or the Philippines’ Gross Domestic Product, is rising to almost 7% economic growth. Compared to other neighboring countries, the Philippines has a higher GDP economic-wise. The ambassador believes that if all the Filipinos are united towards a better stake and better progress for the Philippines in another administration or so soon, the Philippines will rise further for a better economy and better growth.
On the other hand, the celebration flattered a more exhilarating moment because the Philippine Embassy handouts its gratitude to Filipinos who freely volunteered to help during the recent State Visit of Ferdinand Marcos, the President of the Philippines, here in Prague on March 15th. One who received the appreciation certificate is Eden Pohan, the founder of Pinoy Care, a non-profit organization, and Eden’s Garden Thai and Philippine Massage in Prague. Eden Pohan received the appreciation certificate and is a former Las Damas De Rizal member. This non-profit organization helped and volunteered its time during the President’s State Visit here in Czechia.
Accepting the appreciation certificate was a pleasant impression, as it signifies that the Philippine Embassy in Prague appreciates and acknowledges all the volunteers. Thanks to Consul General Indhira Bañares and the Head Commission Ambassador Eduardo Meñez, who handed out the certificate to the volunteers. Thank you, Philippine Embassy.
Mabuhay and happy 126th Philippine Independence Day Kabayan,
Pinoy Care
