The Festival of the Embassy in Prague was freshly celebrated on June 8th, 2024, and was a huge success. Various diplomatic embassies from Asia, the Middle East, America, Africa, Australia, Canada, and Europe hosted the Festival of the Embassy.
The Festival of the Embassy was established in 2010 in Prague to showcase diverse cultural cuisine and traditions from various countries through the diplomatic embassies in Prague, which partake in the rich cultural event of the day. Since then, the embassy festival has been an exciting festivity around this time, and each year is significantly full of entertainment. Audiences may enjoy watching traditional dances or songs presented by each embassy. Because of this event, many locals and various foreign nationals unified and showed support for their designated embassies at the event. The event’s impression resulted in positive popularity, attracting visitors to come and experience the joyful festivities.
Every embassy in Prague participated in the festival, producing its booth to showcase the best and most in-demand delicacies and products made or handmade by their designated country. The Philippine Embassy, Head of the Mission, H.E. Eduardo Menez, Ambassador in Prague, is one of the representative countries that put up a booth selling popular Filipino food from fresh cooks, such as Filipino-style grill barbecue, Adobo, Lumpia, Filipino desserts, Filipino snacks and handcrafted products from the Philippines. When it comes to the musical and dance presentation, the Philippines presented an Igorot traditional dance which locals and other nationalities are astonished of the Filipino’s dance presentation.
The event venue is in an open space near the Metro Green Line in Dejvice Prague 6. Since the event was a standing situation and crowded, many visitors who came to the event had to get comfortable to show their support for their embassy. People had their way of laying picnic blankets on the grass or sitting under the shade of the tree to get wind since the temperature was relatively high and sunny. Also, people had the venture to loosen up, sing, dance, drink, and eat their favorite food; perhaps they missed out on a lot from their home country.
The Festival of the Embassy encourages everyone to meet diverse Embassies and try a more comprehensive selection of international cuisine. Also, a chance to meet various people from the diplomat sector to foreign nationals or meet up with new people and characters that could lead to friendship in the future.
The Festival of the Embassy proceeds go to charity or are donated to cultural and educational fund beneficiaries in the Czech Republic. Therefore, this is a non-profit event, and many vendors choose to donate a full or half of the profit they could make that day and freely donate what they sell to their chosen benefactor.
Pinoy Care in the Czech Republic is happy to hear about the success of this engaging event rich with culture and tasty food, where the goalmouth is supreme to help such an organization that needs some support and help. Also, we are happy to see Kapwa Kababayan’s who had to enjoy this day to unwind.
